ESSPTX
HISTORY
The Single Parent Scholarship Fund was established in Bentonville, AR in 1984 and has provided scholarships and support services to single parents.
Co-founders Marjorie Wolfe and Ralph Nesson had a vision to help single parents who were struggling to make ends meet. Beginning with total scholarships totaling $3,450 they provided new hope to fifteen families their inaugural semester.
Carol Feyen was one of the first recipients and now lives in Fort Worth, TX. She continued her education and later retired as an accounting instructor at Tarrant County College. In 2007 Marjorie Wolfe contacted Carol. Marjorie wanted to expand scholarships for single parents to Texas and asked for Carol’s assistance. Carol felt honored and they began the process of establishing Educational Scholarships for Single Parents (ESSP).
